Q. What are Forfeits?

A Forfeit is when a challenge is not completed by the due date (every Ladder has a set number of days for playing matches selected by the ladder Manager, the due date is calculated from that setting). When a match is forfeited the challenger automatically wins the match and the challenged player has a loss. The winner takes the place of the loser as in a typical challenge. Forfeits affect the placement of players on the ladder as well as their stats to not to be taken lightly.

How to prevent (or minimize Forfeits) –

1. Communicate: both players are responsible to communicate and establish the time and place of their match. This is often the reason matches are Forfeited.

2. If you can not find a mutually acceptable time and location “cancel” the match. You can always find a different time to play. (Remember, general sportsman behavior is to do your best to find a time, specially if you’re in No. 1 spot. If you find a player is not available consistently let the Ladder manager know to resolve as needed.)

3. Enter the results of your match immediately after completion. The app works by entering the results by the due date, so even if you played the match in time but did not enter the results, a Forfeit will take place.
